In the Community

In the Community

The Edmonton Calligraphic Society (ECS) takes pride in introducing and promoting lettering arts and calligraphy to communities in Edmonton, Alberta and the surrounding area. ECS also supports the use of the Getty-Dubay Italic Handwriting Series and works in our communities to run a cursive writing program for Grade 3 students.

We love to collaborate with businesses, organizations, community leagues, and other community groups. ECS can be invited to do demonstrations of hand lettering, brush lettering, calligraphy, or cursive writing at business events, meetings, socials, conventions, festivals, and more!

The ECS enjoys being active in the community and welcomes your ideas and invitations.

Please contact us to organize serving in one of the above ways or to inquire about other possibilities.

What Working with ECS in the Community Looks Like

We would love to partner you for your event!

We will collaborate with you in advance of your event to determine your needs and the services ECS can offer.

We typically include:

  • Information about our society and upcoming events
  • A take-away item for participants
  • Sample art pieces
  • A ‘Try It’ station can be added for extra interest as participants explore and experiment with a variety of writing tools.

Please contact us at least 3 months prior to your event to ensure there is sufficient time to customize ECS’ participation. Summer festivals and events must be booked before March 31st of the year.

While many aspects of ECS’ participation are provided at no cost, sometimes there are costs incurred with special designs and products an event might want ECS to provide. In those cases, ECS will discuss the costs and obtain agreement from the event before proceeding. Typically, organizers provide a donation for the event.
