Welcome Back, Letter Lovers — Our 2026–2027 Season Begins!

We’re excited to kick off a brand‑new year with the Edmonton Calligraphic Society, and we’d love to see you at our first member meeting of the season! After a summer of rest, travel, and whatever creative paths you followed this summer, this is our chance to gather again, reconnect with familiar faces, and welcome new ones into our community.

September Monthly Meeting – Uncial Lettering with Nancy Nannemann

What We’ll Be Learning

We’re kicking off the 2026–2027 season with a beautiful and historic hand: Uncial. Nancy will guide us through the classic forms, rhythm, and spacing that make this script so timeless. Whether you’re brand‑new to calligraphy or returning after the summer break, this session is a welcoming way to ease back into lettering.

You’ll leave with a solid understanding of the foundational strokes and a small practice piece to continue exploring at home.

What to Bring

• A broad‑edge pen (3.8 mm or similar)
• Practice paper
• Pencil and ruler
• Any favourite tools you enjoy using
• Basic supplies will be available for those who need them.

Instructor

Nancy Nannemann Nancy is a long‑time ECS member and skilled calligrapher known for her thoughtful teaching style and love of traditional hands. She brings a warm, encouraging approach to every session and has taught Uncial to students of all levels.

Registration

Members: This meeting is included in your ECS membership. Please register so we know you’re coming.

Non‑Members: Drop‑in fee: $10. Register online to reserve your spot. If you’ve been thinking about joining ECS, this is a perfect chance to try a meeting and meet our community.
